At the recently concluded Mobile World
Congress, Samsung unveiled its latest and newest flagship smartphone, the
Galaxy S6. This announcement generated quite a buzz, the sort of excitement
that is associated with its bitter rival Apple, prompting many people to think
that the iPhone 6 is finally going to face some serious competition.
Since the iPhone 6 was released in
September last year, Apple has raked in record-breaking quarterly profits, and
the sales are still going strong. However, with the entry of the Galaxy S6, the
battle of the sixes is bound to become epic. Both gadgets are quite similar in
many aspects, but there are some unique differences. Read on to find out more.
Unique features of the Galaxy S6
Wireless charging and fast charging
The Galaxy S6 comes with built-in support
for wireless power bank charger, a feature that is bound to make Apple a little bit
jealous. To charge the phone, you simply put it on a wireless charging pad. No
tussling about with wires. The S6 also promises some fast charging to boot. In
just 10 minutes of charging, your S6 can gain hours of standby time.
A bigger screen with higher resolution
The Galaxy S6 spots a large, crystal-clear
screen that looks even more impressive when you get to interact with it. Its
5.1’’ 577 ppi screen definitely steals a march on the iPhone’s 4.7’’ 326 ppi
display. The iPhone 6 Plus does have a bigger screen, but it is $100 more
expensive than the iPhone 6.
Heart rate monitor
There are apps that make use of the iPhone
6’s back camera and flash to read your heart rate, but almost all of them are
slow and inaccurate. That’s not the case with the S6 though whose LED flash can
even measure blood oxygen saturation. Whether you are resting or pushing
yourself hard on the running tract, the S6 will give you instant and accurate
readings of your heart rate.
Unique features of the iPhone 6
Easy sharing between Apple devices
The iPhone 6 makes it easy for you to share
your photos, videos and links between other Apple devices that you may have
such as the iPad and Mac. Additionally, you can take your iPhone calls from
your Mac thanks to an awesome feature called Handoff. If you want to enjoy this
flawless ecosystem between your Apple products, then consider getting an iPhone
6. You can still replicate some of these features on Android phones but you
will need to install third-party apps.
More exciting apps
As it has always been, iOS is always first
to get new apps. There are literally hundreds of phone models running on
Android and developers have to customize their apps for all these versions. Of
course most apps eventually hit the Android scene, but some never do. So if you
want the latest versions of your favourite apps, consider getting the iPhone. However, you may run out of your battary and you need an iphone charger.
A large ecosystem of compatible accessories
The iPhone 6 is still your best bet if you want to have an array of compatible speakers, headphones and other gadgets. The iPhone has always enjoyed great popularity in the United States, and so case makers and manufactures of other accessories have always been quick to make new products for it. The Galaxy phones have been getting more attention here too, but the iPhone is still getting more complementary products being designed for it.
Early verdict
In the iPhone6 v.s Samsung Glaxy S6 titanic
tussle, it is difficult to pick out a clear winner right now. However, the
iPhone may face its first serious threat in the Galaxy S6. Samsung appears to
target an area that Apple has always dominated: design. Samsung has finally moved
away from tasteless plastic in favour of a stylish blend of metal and glass.
This is a huge upgrade, and you can now expect this two amazing gadgets to be
neck and neck.
